Summer Time

Hey, good people! It has been a while, and so much has happened. I hope this blog finds you well, in good health, and surrounded by loving relationships. If this is a rough time for you, don’t forget to do things that bring you joy, ask for help if you need it, and Prayer changes things. There is so much going on in the world, so don’t forget to spend time with the people you love and to bless others.

I have come to the realization that people view me as not having any “real problemsโ€ because it’s just me, but I am human, so I have issues too, and I would like to be treated with respect regardless of my marital status. You don’t really know people until some shit happens, and how the resolution is handled speaks volumes of the person’s character, or how they feel about you! I was huge on communication, but I’ve reached a point where that has changed for me, and I am trying to find a happy medium on what works for me going forward.

I had a procedure earlier this year, and my Mommy flew in for a few days to take care of me. Well, she came to take care of me, and she had the flu and didn’t know, so that was a disaster. Haha! Thank goodness for loving friends because they had so much food delivered that my Mommy didn’t have to cook anything while she was here. They also sent get-well gifts and Roses. Instead of being off for a couple of days, I was off work for a week because she gave me the flu. She was in my bed watching movies with me, rubbing her grand dog, and sneezing. Smh

I took a weekend trip to Chicago and had a fantastic time, but I did not pack appropriately. It was still chilly, and I did not have a jacket, so I wore a few pieces of my friend’s clothing to keep warm. Haha, I looked a mess, but I didn’t care because it was so cold and windy. We went to a comedy show, a play, and did some shopping.

The Starbucks Reserve Roastery was such a great visit.

I flew to NYC for the day to see the play Hell’s Kitchen about Alicia Keyes life. It was so good, and I enjoyed how they incorporated her songs in the show. After the show, I headed back to the airport and was home by midnight.

I am not a big drinker, but almost everyone I know drinks bourbon, so I started attending bourbon classes once a month. At the end of every class, I am tipsy, so I get dinner afterwards. I always meet a lovely couple in class, and we chat about which samples were the best and what I should buy for my bar at home. Well, in the last class I met a lovely couple, and we had a great time. He shared some great tips on how to “open up” the liquor and make it taste better. We laughed and talked the entire class and went to dinner afterwards. At dinner, I learned they dated previously, and something happened that caused them to take a break for a year. This was their first date since reconnecting. I was shocked to find out this information because they had great chemistry, had lots of stories to share, and seemed like a great connection. My nosy ass wanted to know what happened, so I asked why the break was taken, and he quickly responded, “I don’t want to talk about it!” So, I responded and said, “Let’s toast to an amazing second chapterโ€ฆ. CHEERS” We toasted to the next chapter in their relationship and said our goodbyes. I wonder if they are still dating and if he is behaving well. Hahaha

I am attending a few weddings this year and I am thrilled. Both couples met their mate online, and now there are wedding bells. I went to Detroit for the first wedding, and it was lovely. The wedding was intimate with an excellent DJ, great band, and open bar. Beautiful couple, and I am excited for their future. The next wedding is in September, and I am looking forward to it. ๐Ÿ’ If you are ever in Detroit make sure you visit The Lip Bar.

I promised myself that I would dance salsa and bachata like no one is watching this year, but I get nervous. This is one thing that still makes me shy! I met a friend at the club, and I wore my kitten heels because I wasn’t going to dance and would have a drink, enjoy the music, and catch up with what’s going on with her. She knows everyone at the club because she is on the scene. In my mind, I am not dancing, and I am here to chair dance and watch everyone until that changed. He says, “Let’s dance!” I told him no because I was wearing the wrong shoes, but he looked at me and said, “I got you!” That man almost twirled me out of my shoes, and he turned me every way but loose hahaha. We were the same height, and you couldn’t tell me that he wasn’t a giant. He was a great leader, and I had danced with him a while ago, and nothing had changed. We danced like we owned the floor, and I felt confident about our moves because he was a fantastic lead. Then, another guy asked me to bachata, and I told him I had the wrong shoes on, but he didn’t care and said he would take it slow. I had a great time!

I miss my family, so I am headed to LA soon for a few days to hang out. Please make sure you are being good to yourself and others, trying new things, and taking things one day at a time.

Until Next Time
