Goodbye Summer

Hey, good people! How are you? Please try to celebrate YOU, move your body, and hug someone. Hugs are so powerful and healing! When someone gives me a good hug, I never want to let go haha. My Mommy used to hug me all the time when I was growing up, so I am a hugger. A lot is going on all over the world, and the news is stressing me the f&@k out. I stay abreast of what’s going on without drowning in it. I know for some people their circumstances are beyond their control, and I pray that it gets better. My family is discussing moving out of the county, and we may have a plan soon.

Hello Fall! I love the changing of the leaves and the cooler mornings. I love white fluffy comforters during this time because I love to open my windows and get back in bed. Fall is my favorite time of year, and it is time to buy my fur baby some new sweaters. Oh, and we can’t forget nice boots for Fall and Winter.

So, I locked myself in the car!! I know you are thinking What? How? I was inside the car, and the battery died. I was sitting in a parking lot eating and talking on the phone. The dashboard went black, and I began to panic because I couldn’t open the door. I AM STUCK! I take a few deep breaths and call roadside assistance. I explain that the battery died and I can’t get out, but around this time, I start sweating from panicking. I hung up with roadside, and he explained that someone is on their way. In the meantime, a guy pulls up in the parking lot, and I start banging on the window and asking him to see if he can open the door. He couldn’t open the door; I was able to pop the hood, and he checked to see if he had jumper cables. He didn’t have any cables, but he told me that he would go to the restaurant and ask the customers. NO ONE had jumper cables, and the man from the restaurant called the cops to have them rescue me. He then returned to the restaurant. I am sitting in the car, and a calmness comes over me, and I think to myself, “Pull the knob the other way.” And why did the damn door open? Haha, there are two ways to open the door in my car: You can push or pull the knob, and I only push the knob, but when I pulled the knob, the door opened. The man from the restaurant was headed to check on me, but he spotted me standing next to the car. I am laughing now, but I was going crazy when it happened, hahaha. The cops came, and I ran outside because I didn’t want him to bust my window, but he was very friendly and ensured him that I was okay. Then, roadside service arrived and gave me a jump. I told my Daddy, and he laughed so hard, and we cracked jokes about it.

I attended my second wedding of the Summer, and it was a great time. The wedding exuberated love and lots of fun. OPEN BAR! The wedding started at 11 A.M. and ended around 3-4 P.M. We danced, ate, took pictures, and had a great time. I was about to leave when the bride told me to wait because I needed to catch the bouquet, but that was a bust! Haha, this is my second wedding this year where the bride & groom met online. If you are waiting for your person, don’t give up or settle for anything less than what you feel you deserve, and you are willing to give. The wedding I attended is of a couple in their sixties who belong together. Cheers to LOVE!

Open Bar!

While I was at the wedding, a friend called and invited me to an event at the Delta Museum, which was a lot of fun. Free drinks, free food, and great music. It was my first time at the Delta Museum, so I was taking it all in and admiring the airline industry’s growth. I love spontaneous fun, and that day was overflowing with vittles and libations.

I’ve been home to LA a few times, and home is always a treat! I went to a jazz festival and sunburned so severely that I was crying at the end of the night. I will never forget my sunscreen again. I had dinner at a great restaurant with fantastic company. After dinner, we rode through the hills and admired the homes, and I love a good front door.  California is an expensive place to live, but it is all about where you want to be because the weather is priceless! You can go to the beach and the mountains on the same day.

Somerville Restaurant- great food and drinks!

I can’t believe that it’s the fourth quarter already!! This year has been a hard lesson. Sheesh! Eye-opening lessons! I was headed to LA for a second trip when I received a text on the plane from someone I used to date, and it had been almost two years since our last conversation. He texted to let me know he valued our friendship and apologized for our last interaction, saying the words didn’t come across as intended. We used to spend a great deal of time together, but we navigate the world differently, so I’m sure there are times when my decisions didn’t make sense to him.
I am on the plane staring at the text in shock, and tears start to roll down my face. It was an apology that I didn’t know that I needed. I was deciding whether to text back or leave it alone, but I ended up texting back. We texted a little about what happened and, of course, the stories differ. The apology was sincere, and I appreciate it for my healing. We are human, and no one ALWAYS gets it right, so being accountable is huge!

Please make sure you are spending time with your family, including friends who have become family. Since my Granny passed away, I have realized how important it is to spend time with the people you love and create memories. I saw a memory on social media of me driving to see my Granny, and it made me sad that she is no longer here, but happy that I spent that time with her. I was supposed to stay for a week and ended up staying a month. I took lots of pictures and videos. I would make that 7.5-hour drive daily if I had to. I am not a picture person, so I took a lot of pictures of her, haha! I would wear my kitten heels in the house, and that would crack her up and make her giggle. She had Alzheimer’s, and she would be talking shit about me to me. Hahaha! I would say, “Granny, are you talking about me?” and she would reply, “Oh, that was you,” hahaha.

In the meantime, be good to yourself and others. Make sure you kiss and hug someone this week. 💋

I hope you have a great week filled with many joys!

Until Next Time
