Mommy: Hey, Babygirl! I will be home soon, but I am hosting Thanksgiving at my place, and I would love for you to come.
Me: Okay! I will be there.
I am traveling to my Mommy’s for Thanksgiving, and I haven’t been on this trip in approximately 2 years. She was in Namibia, South Africa, for two weeks, and she was arriving home just in time for the holiday. I had to leave early because of an incoming storm, so I stopped at Buc-ee’s to grab a snack for this 7.5-hour trip. When I was 26 minutes from my mom’s home, the GPS directed me off the highway to back roads. I was SOOO scared because it was pitch black and no visible landmarks, just farmland. I called and told my Mommy what happened, just in case my phone lost signal, but my phone wasn’t sharing my location, so I was extra nervous. The holiday was great, but we had a dog feud between my fur baby and my Mommy’s fur baby. My fur baby kept growling while I held him, and my mom’s dog kept jumping, trying to reach my dog… A mess! Her dog jumps high like Michael Jordan, so I knew he was about to bite my dog’s ass, but it didn’t happen. Hahaha, after Thanksgiving, I headed home early to avoid the icy roads, and I made it home in record time.

Once I returned home, I was traveling to L.A. for a couple of days because I missed home, so I had to prepare for the trip. Daddy picked me up, and we headed to Costco to check out the clothes. The Costco’s in Cali have the best clothes, so I had to check out the selection before I left town.

Next, I headed to Santa Monica to have lunch with him. It’s been some months since we hung out, and since I am always in and out, it’s challenging to spend more than a couple of hours together. He is a very busy man, but we met up for lunch. Unfortunately, I was a little busy with work, but we still made it work. We discussed what has been going on in our lives lately and what is on the horizon for next year. I am always a little nervous around him because he is very complimentary, which I love, but it makes me shy, hahaha. 🤠I love when men are complimentary and send me music; he does both! My compliments make him blush, or he will act like he didn’t hear me, and I have to repeat myself. I am grateful that he made time to have lunch with me. 😊
I headed back home because I needed a nap. After all, when I am sleepy, I am moody. Ugh! I woke up from the nap and headed to dinner at Alta Adams in Los Angeles’ historic West Adams neighborhood to meet a great friend. We met while working at Paramount Pictures and have remained friends ever since. Dinner was delicious, and I had the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had, so I think the bourbon classes are finally paying off. I am not a fan of soul food, but we had fried chicken, greens, macaroni & cheese, and yams, and it was DELICIOUS! Soul Food is usually not my jam, but I couldn’t stop eating. Hahaha
The following day, I had some self-care appointments and dinner with my girls. I love them sooo much, and we have been friends for over 15 years. We met up at TAO in Hollywood for vittles and libations. Great ambiance, and the food was delectable. Everything we ordered was a 10/10! I am trying to find the closest location to Georgia so I can do a repeat. We were able to catch up on what’s been going on in life lately and plan our future meetup. We also celebrated one of my friends’ birthdays, but we ate the ice cream because she didn’t want it. Hahaha, I slept so well that I almost missed my flight back to Georgia.

I left Daddy a birthday card in his van for him to read when I was gone. I usually wear heels at the airport, but because I was rushing, I wore my Converse. As I was boarding the plane, I made eye contact with a very handsome gentleman in first class. We locked eyes, and he checked me out from my head to my toes, and when he laid eyes on my Converse, he turned his head the other way hahaha I laughed hard because my sneakers are raggedy, but I love to work out in them, but that is my last time wearing them on the plane. Haha, once I landed, I was headed to our annual holiday party to host the games. I picked up the supplies and arrived at the party ready to have a good time. The games were a hit! We ate, laughed, and exchanged gifts. Did I tell you I LOVE gifts? I love receiving and giving gifts. I had such a fantastic time, but I had to rush to pick up my fur baby from the hotel before they closed for the evening.
I had such a fantastic weekend full of friendship, food, and love!
Until next time!
What’s next starts now!
