Birthday Time!

My birthday month was amazing! I did not have any large gatherings or parties, but I celebrated in Georgia, Florida, and California. My friends had me create an Amazon birthday list of things I wanted, but I only had 4-5 items. Hahaha, I couldn’t think of anything I really wanted, but I love cards and birthday calls/texts. I received birthday gifts from some friends in Cali, my neighbors, friends, and the best cards.

A gift! 🎁

The celebration started with a friend in town for business, and we went to dinner every night for my birthday. Our first stop was Saints + Council, and the food was amazing! I hadn’t seen this person in years, so we ate and chatted for hours until we closed the restaurant. The next night, we had Italian at No. 246 in Decatur, and it was the best I’ve ever had. The portions were huge. The space was tight, and we chatted with other guests—like a big family dinner with strangers, hahaha. We finished, put the leftovers in the car, and walked to Jeni’s for ice cream. The next day, I canceled because I was still full from dinner. Hahaha, finally, on Sunday, we went to Pappasito’s Cantina and closed the restaurant down laughing and drinking. The next week, I went to the Fox Theatre with a friend to watch School Daze; Spike Lee introduced the film, and the crowd’s school spirit created electric energy. Later that week, I returned to Fox with another friend to watch the Alvin Ailey Dance Academy perform. The dancers were passionate and inspiring. On my actual birthday, I joined friends in town at a family party, but I left early as I was tired and not feeling well. The following days, I rested at home, drank ginger tea, and prepared for a presentation to students about Project Management. My next celebration was a quick trip to Tampa, where I had lunch by the water, enjoyed another birthday dinner, and received thoughtful gifts. Despite an unsuccessful search for new kitten heels, I appreciated the freedom of being by the water. Then I flew back to Atlanta before heading to California.

The next day, I was able to see my family and laugh and chat with them. I love my family, and my auntie has the best snacks, hahaha. I wish I had asked her to make me a cake, but I had so much going on, I didn’t remember to ask.

Him: I am outside!

Him: Are you ready?

I look outside and see him chatting with Daddy. Suddenly, my Daddy hollers, “Glitter! He is unemployed.” My Daddy hadn’t told me he was outside, but here he is, hollering about the man being unemployed. We all laugh and chat for a bit, but soon we have to go—we have dinner reservations. He opens my door, and we head out. We arrive at Little Fatty. I’ve heard so much about this restaurant and am excited to try it. The food is delicious, and we share everything. We chat about his new role, and I thank him for the birthday gift and card that were at my home before I left—he’s very thoughtful. After dinner, we go to another spot, meet some of his friends, and discuss current events and future goals. Eventually, I’m so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open, so he took me home. On my last day in the city, I went out with my friends to TAO and a concert, where we laughed, ate, sang, and danced. I felt free, loved the beautiful weather, and enjoyed time with my Daddy.

Happy Birthday to ME!
